6.2 miles run outside.  AP 9:17.  Felt great to be running outside in decent temperatures.  Set out with no expectations on how far or how fast.  Once I got going I didn't want to stop but I started feeling it in my knee a little so I figured I better stop.  Overall my legs and lungs felt great.  Walked .8 miles to cool down and end with an even 7 miles.

5.5 miles on the treadmill. AP-8:41. It was nice to be warm but the TM is so monotonous. Faster paces seemed easier today but I didn't want to push it especially since I've been increasing my mileage a lot. So far my knee is doing great. I'm wondering if the slower paces are helping.

13.1 miles.  AP: 9:14.  Left from my house and ran most of the Riverton half route.  Splits:  9:04, 9:15, 9:47 (hill), 8:58, 9:22, 9:23, 9:03 (lovers lane hill), 9:15, 9:21, 9:21, 9:25, 9:00, 8:43, & 8:24 (pace for .1).

Not my best run.  Spent the first five miles talking to my mom on the phone so I never felt I got into a grove.  As I left the JRP I wanted to stop and walk but convinced myself to push on.  I'm pleased to see the dreaded lovers lane hill was not my slowest mile- I did attack the hill hoping to get it over.   I was hoping to complete the run in under 2 hours but didn't quite make it with a total time of 2:00:58.

Felt great to  be done.  And I actually got the opportunity to take a short nap today, Yay!

I still haven't decided whether to sign up for the Riverton half; I really don't care for the course, but it is local.  Maybe it will fill up before I decide and then I won't have to contemplate it.

From Shelly on Tue, Mar 15, 2011 at 00:18:36 from 208.54.5.68

It was a little awkward running past the church as it let out. I wish I'd have heard you but I guess I was focused on getting past everyone. My knee has been doing pretty well since I quit playing soccer. It is the cutting and twisting and acceleration/deceleration that really gets it inflamed, as long as I keep a reasonable pace and distance and don't pound the downhill i'm ok. Still looking at surgery this summer to repair the ACL.

First mile was an 8:30.  After that my phone quit working.  When I went to check what was wrong I dropped it and shattered the face- hmmph.  That's 2 phones in the last 2 weeks- not my month for phones.  I think my pace stayed right around the 8:30 mark with the last couple of mile being faster.  Awesome Run.

Bluck-  I did not enjoy this run.  I'm not sure why I decided to sign up.  My goal going into this run was to keep it easy and post a time over 2 hours.  But, true to my nature I started out a little fast- I kept telling myself to slow down and enjoy the run but it wasn't until RAD kicked my butt up tithing hill that I actually did.   After that I fought with myself mentally- I hated not competing and actually allowing others to pass me.  I fought with my music, which would not stay on and I fought the urge to quit.  I stopped and walked through water stops and 4 or 5 times to reset my music.   Mentally, I think this was the worst run (of any kind) I have ever had.

On the brighter side- I enjoyed seeing and talking with many of the BBK'ers.   I miss running with them and hope after I get my knee fixed I can join them on an occasional run.  But for now its best if I run by myself.

It has been a while. Thanks for checking on me. I've been doing some running, including a nice 9 miler on saturday- my final run before surgery monday morning. Surgery went well- an ACL repair using my hamstring, a lateral meniscus trim, and removal of 2 screws from the ACL repair I had done 20 years ago. Doc says i'll be up and running again in no time.

I was very pleased to see my first mile was in the 7's and my AP was around 8:18 (i forgot to stop my watch for a minute or so at the end). I am very excited to start training again...
